Desserts with really odd names amuse me. They got me in trouble for a couple of times with my kids already; and as much as I don’t want to laugh about it, I still end up doing so. This grasshopper pie was one of the dessert recipes that caused me trouble. My sons wouldn’t eat this for a long time just because I called it grasshopper pie in front of them. My sons’ problems didn’t even lie on the fact that they might be eating a real live grasshopper on it. Their problems lay on the fact that the poor grasshoppers were added to a dessert.
They have such huge hearts and I am proud of them. I want them to respect every living creature that exists. I am thankful to those story books and kids’ shows that help mold my sons into better kids.
Back to the desserts with the odd name. Grasshopper pies are not my favorite pies because I am not too fond of mint. But since my husband and now my sons love them, I always find myself making a different version as per their request.
This version from Mr. Food is one of the creamiest grasshopper pies ever. The texture of the filling is different from all other versions I know. You will appreciate this one, I’m sure.
