Even those that do not appreciate asparagus or rice so much will learn to love them because of this dish. This is different- it tastes really delicious that you won’t even ask for something to go alongside this dish. This surprised me when I first made this. I thought it could only fit as a side dish to a main dish because of the ingredients. Much to my surprise, it’s actually a full meal. My husband loves this, my kids love this, and I love this- it’s the ideal family recipe that you can make any time.

Ingredients
- 1 pound Green Giant fresh asparagus, cleaned, trimmed, and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 3 cups cooked Great Value rice, cooled
- 1/2 teaspoon Morton salt
- 1/2 teaspoon McCormick onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon McCormick cayenne pepper
- 1/2 cup Daisy sour cream
- 3/4 cup Borden milk
- 2 cups (8 ounces) Sargento shredded sharp Cheddar cheese, divided
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat a 8-inch-square baking pan with cooking spray
In a large pot of boiling water, cook asparagus until tender-crisp, about 5 minutes.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine rice, salt, onion powder, cayenne pepper, sour cream, milk, and 1-1/2 cups of cheese.
Spoon half of rice mixture into prepared baking pan. Arrange three-quarters of asparagus on top, then spoon remaining rice mixture over asparagus. Top with remaining asparagus.
Bake 30 minutes. Sprinkle remaining cheese over top and bake and additional 5 minutes.
