I woke up one day realizing that I had to attend a certain bridal shower and I didn’t know what to bring. It almost slipped my mind that another one of my friends will be married soon. I was a bit busy with work and a few household issues (my husband and I’s house makeover project) so I sort of forgot to keep track of the other events on my desktop calendar. Sometimes, calendars aren’t even helping anymore. I wish I have a time machine sometimes so I can accomplish more things in a day.
Anyway, I was saved when I realized I could always bring a cake. Cakes are perfect for any occasion so I didn’t have to worry too much about people thinking how weird it was for me to make a cake for this. I brought out my apron and started making this simple but amazing cake.
It’s called chocolate chip buttermilk cake. If you are a fan of chocolate chip, then you will love this cake. The icing perfectly suits the cake and you wouldn’t ask for anything else.
When my husband saw me making it, he already knew I forgot about another occasion. However, he said nothing about it, just looked at me with amusement. However, he also looked at the cake as if he’d devour it if I wouldn’t get it out of his sight.
My friend, the soon-to-be bride, loved this cake; and for me that’s what’s important. She even asked me for the recipe, saying that she would want to make it for her and her soon-to-be husband as their first marriage cake. Cute, isn’t she?

Quick Tip: If the icing curdles when you add orange juice, melt two tbsp. of butter and mix it into the mixture.
