Do you love pancakes? My family does. The joy on their faces can be seen whenever they see the fluffy stacks on their plates every morning. We all love our pancakes plain. Sure, I cook blueberry pancakes and chocolate chip pancakes sometimes, but there’s nothing better for us other than plain old pancakes. But our reasons might be different than what you think. It’s definitely not because plain pancakes are the classic.
We love our pancakes plain because we can eat them any way we want to. Whenever pancakes are on the menu, I bring out everything on the table- different kinds of syrups, whipped cream, nuts, mallows, and chocolate chips. We can decorate our pancakes the way we want to. Our sons love their pancakes with a drizzle of chocolate syrup, marshmallows, and chocolate chips. They love whipped cream on top too, but they usually eat the whipped cream first. They sometimes put nuts on them if they want.
My husband loves putting everything on his pancakes except the mallows. He’s always so generous with whipped cream and the syrup. He hasn’t gained an ounce of fat even through all of that. I love mine with walnuts, whipped cream, and maple syrup. I go crazy with the walnuts though because I love nuts. But mine is always the most classic preparation.
This maple syrup walnut cake reminds me of our pancake mornings. This cake might not be pancakes, but it tastes like one, just more sinful. Grab a copy of this recipe on the next page!
