When I was a kid, we often went to this cake place in town; and my brother and I were always so ecstatic about it. We have our favorite cake there, which our Mom never baked. The only time we could eat was whenever Dad treated us to that cake place. It’s a black forest cake; and my brother and I were so obsessed about it. We found the not-so-sweet but rich filling and icing so irresistible. We were used to homemade cakes like butter cakes and chiffon cakes; this was a different one for us.
Now that I have my own family, I already collected a few recipes for homemade black forest cake. I haven’t tried a lot of them simply because for me, black forest is a cake for special occasion. It’s not something that I just bake because we’re craving for something.
When my husband finally got another big project to manage, I made this black forest cake. I got the recipe from My Best Days Ever and didn’t change a lot of things.
Well, except for the frosting. This cake version doesn’t have a lot of it, so I made a few more and covered the whole cake. But that’s the only thing I modified because this recipe is perfect.
The family loved it so much that my husband said he wouldn’t mind eating this every day. So if you want a copy, grab it now on the next page!
