Sunday afternoon is probably the most perfect family time for me. It’s the calm before the storm; that piece of heaven you will spend with your family before the week starts again. During these times, if the weather is good, we will take a walk to the nearest park and allow the kids to play under the sun. Since the weather is already better, soon it will be perfect for that walk again. But for now, we’re staying indoors and having that quality time just playing.
For this type of afternoon, I usually prepare a simple snack. Sometimes, it’s a sandwich-with all of those cheese and bacon bits. Most of the time, it’s a simple pastry or a simple cake.
One Sunday afternoon, I prepared a simple strawberry cake. It’s not the type of cake that will make you spend all day in the kitchen. It’s so easy to prepare that you’re done even before you become aware of the time.
A slice of this cake makes my family happy. Watching them enjoy such a simple dessert makes me feel content and amazing. For a mother, those smiles are our biggest rewards.
