I love simple cakes as much as I love decadent cakes. Decadent cakes are the ones you serve during special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, etc.; but they are not the cakes you can eat every day. At least that’s how I see it as someone who loves cakes. When I was a kid, Mom always made the simplest ones for our every day desserts; the more elaborate ones, she made for special occasions. Coffee cakes, butter cakes, sheet cakes- these were the ones Mom used to make for our desserts every day.
It’s a bit different in my family now; but it has something to do with my cravings than any other factor. When I crave for something, I need to make it so that I can eat it and share it with my family. I remembered craving for vanilla cake with that beautiful frosting- it took me all day in the kitchen, but it was so worth it.
How about you; what types of cake do you make regularly? Are you like my Mom who made simple cakes for our every day desserts? Or are you more like me who doesn’t care about the occasion as long as I crave for it?
This pecan chocolate chip butter cake is a compromise. It’s a simple cake, yes, but it’s also full of so many flavors that it can pass as a fancy cake. Oh this is so sinful that you will instantly get addicted to this!
