My grandma is a huge shortbread fan. Since I was growing up, she would always give us a delicious cookie every time we went over to visit her. We absolutely loved every little bit of it. She would normally buy the cookies because she said every time she made them she messed them up. I do not know how she managed to do that because she is really such a great cook, but oh well, her purchased cookies were just as good.
Well, years later, I am now a baker and love to come up with new recipes and get creative. I do fusion dishes and enjoy switching things up. However, I love to go back to classic dishes that my family knows and loves and perfects them.
With Valentine’s around the corner, I knew I wanted to make my grandma a big batch of shortbread cookies. Some that would be delicious and tasty and fully her style. I would decorate them as she liked them and serve them on a beautiful platter. I really think she would like that far more than any chocolate or caramel box I could ever buy her and it would remind her of us growing up.
