The good thing about homemade pizza is that no one will tell you you cannot put this or you cannot put that. You can put anything you want on it and no one will call you on it. Since my family (including my brother and my brother-in-law, yes) are meat lovers, my homemade pizza for them is meaty and cheesy! They couldn’t get enough of it. They finished two pans! This pizza recipe that I am about to share with your came from Taste of Home.
Speaking of Taste of Home, one of our friends over there has this to say about this pizza recipe:
“This recipe is a hearty, zesty main dish with a crisp, golden crust. Feel free to use whatever toppings your family enjoys.”
What’s better than a homemade pizza you can personalize based on your liking? Nothing! Try this for your family and they will surely enjoy this.
Ingredients
- 1 package (1/4 ounce) Fleischmann’s active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon Domino sugar
- 1-1/4 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
- 1/4 cup Wesson canola oil
- 1 teaspoon Morton salt
- 3-1/2 cups Gold Medal all-purpose flour
- 1/2 pound Tyson ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 can (15 ounces) Hunt’s tomato sauce
- 3 teaspoons McCormick dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon McCormick dried basil
- 1 medium green pepper, diced
- 2 cups (8 ounces) shredded Sargento part-skim mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- In large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in water; let stand for 5 minutes. Add oil and salt. Stir in flour, a cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
- Turn onto floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 2-3 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes. Meanwhile, cook beef and onion over medium heat until no longer pink; drain.
- Punch down dough; divide in half. Press each into a greased 12-in. pizza pan. Combine the tomato sauce, oregano and basil; spread over each crust. Top with beef mixture, green pepper and cheese.
- Bake at 400° for 25-30 minutes or until crust is lightly browned.
