Valentine’s just passed, but it doesn’t mean you can make these gorgeous red velvet lava cakes for your family! This sweet treat is the perfect way to show them that you love them every day! A special dessert for a special person. Yes, this is a winner dessert recipe!
Last Valentine’s Day, my family and I just celebrated it at home. I just made a small feast for the four of us. My husband made fried chicken using his mother’s recipe while I made pasta. We also had potato salad and homemade bread to go with the pasta. The most special one was the dessert.
I made chocolate lava cakes for the four of us. I used my Mom’s recipe because she already perfected the consistency of the chocolate inside the cakes! My family loved the dessert, of course. They even topped theirs with vanilla ice cream.
If I had learned about this red velvet lava cake recipe before Valentine’s, I would have made these. I have heart-shaped ramekins at home courtesy of my Mom and they would have looked perfect for that dinner feast.
But then again, nothing’s stopping me from making this for them. It doesn’t need to be Valentine’s Day to show your loved ones that you love them! I’m making these red velvet lava cakes for the weekend.

Quick Tip: The cakes will deflate a little as they rest. That’s okay. You’ll invert these onto a dessert plate, so these are actually the bottoms of the cakes.
