My twin boys love yogurt, which is why when I found out about this peanut butter frozen yogurt recipe, I laid my hands down. I grew up eating homemade sorbet or homemade ice cream. We didn’t have an ice cream maker, so most of the time, my mother just put the concoction in an airtight container and places it on the fridge. She just always added more cream for it not to become hard as a rock when you pull it off from the freezer. What I love about homemade ice cream is the freshness of the ingredients. Like for example, my mother made strawberry sorbet and she always made sure to use the freshest strawberries. I don’t remember her adding strawberry preserves or even any type of food color or flavoring. It was all raw ingredients in there.
This peanut butter frozen yogurt recipe is definitely a healthier version of the usual homemade ice cream. First of all, it’s yogurt, and yogurt is so much healthier than heavy cream. At the same time, it doesn’t lose its richness because of peanut butter. Everyone in my family is a fan of peanut butter! I can always catch Chiyo and Calvin fighting over a bottle of peanut butter with their cheeks smudged with peanut butter. When I made this, my sons literally want gaga over it. They were jumping up and down like little mad men while shouting, “Ay-cream! Ay-cream!”. I didn’t tell them it was yogurt, but I doubt if they would even care.
