The Super Pecan Pie Cake That Saved Calvin From The Food Monster!

Kids have the wildest imaginations, don’t they? If only they can construct sentences as good as adults, they will make the best storytellers. I might have an NY Times Best Seller author right here at home if that’s the case. I am talking about Calvin. I feel like I have mentioned this before. Between my twin boys, Chiyo is the boisterous one (Chiyo by the way is just a nickname that stuck). He’s the one who always runs around and asks people a lot of questions. He’s the mischievous twin who sneaks in the master’s bedroom and jump on his father to wake him up. He’s the one who gets in a lot of trouble and probably the number one cause of us buying new dishes all the time.

Calvin is the quiet one. All he ever wants to do is to look at picture books and draw. Yes, he talks, but he doesn’t like to rough house like Chiyo. You can find Calvin watching a show intently which is why my husband and I are careful about what we watch in front of the kids. So a few nights ago, during a weekend, I decided to bake them a pecan pie cake to celebrate the coming of a weekend. It’s a recipe I have found in the internet a few days ago. We all enjoyed it in the living room as we watched an animated film the boys love. My husband and I enjoyed it with freshly brewed tea. They pair off so well! After eating, Calvin fell asleep as we continued to watch. A few minutes later, he woke up and started crying. It took as twenty minutes to get him to stop crying! When he calmed down, all he ever said was, “Monsta tried ta eat Ca-vin. Cake saved Ca-vin, momma.” And all we could ever say was, “Awww”.

Quick Tip: If you want to save yourself a step and use a boxed mix for the cake, go for it.
