I have a coffee every single morning with breakfast. My husband has it not only with breakfast, but after dinner as well. We just love that warm feeling when we drink our cup of joe and cannot help wanting more. We just have one pet peeve when drinking our coffee: drinking it alone. No, we do not mean without the company of each other, we mean, without a sweet to go with it. We are addicted to sweets and the fact that there would not be any with our coffee is disappointing.
For that reason, we are always looking for sweets to go with our coffee. Now, we are picky about it, too! It cannot be something like a big moist caramel cake because that has too much sugar combined with our coffee and we go into a sugar coma. It cannot be a thick rich cheesecake, because well, it just does not match. What we have discovered to be our favorite match is a pound cake. And not just any pound cake. A thick, dense pound cake with a little bit of tartness inside. And the best tartness we have found comes from cream cheese. It makes it utterly delicious!
