Grandma’s amazing grapefruit cake is still a wonder to me up to now. Grapefruit is not a favorite fruit in our household. My family, most especially my kids, do not like its taste. My husband tolerates it, but only because he eats everything. I tolerate it too because I love the health benefits of grapefruit, but it’s truly not a favorite. It reminds me of another fruit called pomelo, but pomelo tastes sweet and this one kind of tastes bitter. Our family loves pomelo. It’s rare in our local grocery, but whenever my husband sees one, he buys it. They are good for the body too; it has alot of health benefits like pomelo.
They look the same too. I was once a victim of mistaking one for the other. Anyway, back to my grandmother’s grapefruit cake. I am still wondering how she was able to make everyone fall in love with grapefruit because of one cake. Because of her, most of the family now tolerates grapefruit.
