Annie is my goddaughter from my friend, Aly. I was invited to her 5th birthday just before the end of this year. Aly and Annie lived a fancy life, which was why material things didn’t really matter to the two of them. In fact, Aly always taught Annie to be humble and to appreciate the simplest things in life. I had a hard time thinking of the best gift to my goddaughter until I came over to my best friend’s house and asked for her advice. She told me to bake Annie a simple cake because that’s something she would surely love. And I was like, “why didn’t I think of that?”
Mom has a lot of cake recipes in hand and some of them, I already got from her. I didn’t think Annie would appreciate spice cakes or even fruit pies. I kept searching the internet for something that’s simple yet classic. When you say classic, it often meant that anyone would love it because it has already established itself as a cake flavor. I happen to come across this recipe for a marble cake. I remembered eating marblle cakes when I was a kid, which meant it was one of those classic cakes that transcended through time. True enough, Annie loved it. Aly emailed me that Annie kept eating it for days as her snack and dessert. She didn’t want to share it. I will share with you the recipe that I used, which was very easy to follow. Enjoy!
