When I was a kid, I ate everything that was presented to me as long as it’s not spicy and if it didn’t have that pickled taste. Grandma used to serve us this shrimp thing dinner that we pour over either pasta or rice. It tasted so good because the combination of butter and garlic, even that hint of wine in the sauce was just perfect. I didn’t know what it was called back then. You know how kids are. When you serve them a chicken dish, they’ll call it chicken. When you serve them a shrimp dish, they’ll call any other shrimp dish, shrimp. It was only when I grew up and ate a similar one at a friend’s house that I learned it was scalled “shrimp scampi”.
I’ve heard about scampi before. But I didn’t associate it with shrimps because I have heard “chicken scampi” too. I made a little research and found out that scampi could either mean and ingredient or the style of preparation itself. Anyway, let’s not talk about such a nerdy thing. Let’s talk about how how wonderful this dish is. This recipe that I found over at The Pioneer Woman gives us a shrimp scampi recipe that’s a little spicier, but still very tasty. Setting aside the hotness level of this version, it reminds me of my Grandma’s Shrimp Scampi Dinner. You will absolutely love this one. It’s a savory dish that can be done in just 16 minutes!
