We never had many hotdogs growing up. I did not even know what they were until a birthday party I went to when I was about 10 years old. Yep, ten whole years without hot dogs. Maybe it is because my parents knew they were unhealthy? Or maybe because everyone around here was Cuban so we did not really eat much American fare at the time. We really only ate fried steak with white rice and black beans almost every day. But anyway, back to the hot dogs, I was mind blown the first time I had one.
Since then, I have tried them at so many different places and although my favorite will always be the classic hot dog in a bun with a bit of ketchup, some other toppings are always going to be favorites as well. One of my favorites is adding little string potatoes to the top of these to give them a crunch. Every time I have this, I am so excited. Another thing that I love is adding chili to it. Sometimes what I do is stop by Wendy’s and pick up a chili and then grill a hot dog outside and add it over the top. It is so incredibly delicious, especially topped with cheese.
