Kids tell the cutest stories and sometimes the scariest ones. This story by my niece was both cute and scary at the same time. That is, until she told me the ending. Andy, her mother and my sister-in-law, loved to bake whenever she doesn’t have a case in hand. She always told me that she doesn’t want my niece to feel lonely just because her parents are both lawyers. She was the one who found this pumpkin Oreo truffles recipe and recommended it to me. But before she handed me the printed recipe, she asked me to ask my niece “what happened to the pumpkin monster?” My niece suddenly cried and went into an immediate tirade.
My niece told me how my brother almost lost his head and how she almost lost her father. I almost panicked until I saw Andy laughing so I knew it wasn’t that serious. Her story started with how Andy promised to make this dessert until she got to the part where I realized how stupid my brother was sometimes. Andy made a homemade pumpkin puree for this. So she made use of pumpkins. My brother, who seemed to have free time, managed to carve a Halloween pumpkin face out of one. My niece was happy when my brother put on the hollowed out pumpkin. A few minutes later though, the happy squeals of my niece turned into howls of worry. My brother got his head stuck inside the pumpkin. I didn’t ask how they removed his head out of it. All I could say was, “he’s such a big idiot sometimes”. His wife agreed.
