This is one crazy delicious recipe for traditional Southern fried catfish! If you’re looking for an easy way to cook fish, from the simplest of ingredients, you’ve come to the right place.
In just 30 minutes you can have these catfish fillets on your plate – I’d say that makes this fast food! If you don’t happen to have buttermilk, you can make your own using regular milk and a little bit of lemon juice. Of course, if you’re not a fan of catfish feel free to use your favorite kind of fish fillets instead!
Ingredients
Instructions:
Combine the buttermilk, water, salt, and pepper. Pour the buttermilk mixture into a flat dish that is large enough to hold all the fish fillets. Spread fillets over bottom of the dish, in a single layer, turning to coat each side, and set aside to marinate.
In a large ziplock bag, mix together the cornmeal, flour, and seafood seasoning. Add fish to mixture, a few fillets at a time, and shake gently to coat evenly.
Heat oil in deep fryer to 365 F.
Deep fry fillets until golden brown, about 3 minutes. Avoid overcrowding so fillets have room to brown properly. Drain on paper towels.
