Mothers know whenever their children are feeling bad. All mothers. There’s no exception. I remember how Mom used to always ask me what’s wrong just because she was able to feel what I was feeling. She told me that Grandma used to do the same because she too could feel that something’s bothering my Mom. I witness this a lot now that I have a niece and a wonderful sister-in-law.
I notice that Andy immediately confronts my niece whenever she feels or witnesses something not right about her. For the life of me, I couldn’t really see what’s wrong with my niece. I couldn’t pinpoint what she can see. It turns out she is always right. Whenever she talks to my niece and asks her what’s wrong, there really is something wrong. Mother and daughter always talk about it over two bowls of steaming chicken and dumplings soup that Andy is so good at making. The soup seems to relax my niece little by little until she finally opens up to her mother. I want to think that it’s because of the delicious soup (well, it might have a part on it), but I think it’s more about the connection the two of them have; the mother and daughter connection.
