Ah, the season of Christmas cookie baking is officially upon us. What kinds will you be making this year? I tend to make a variety.
When I came across this recipe I was so tickled! Just look how cute these candy cane cookies are. I love how the red stripe is incorporated into the dough. So realistic!
My kids love to help make Christmas cookies. However, you have to watch out for “knife-lickers.” Knife lickers are children who spread a little frosting on a cookie and then spread a little on their tongues using the same knife. Pretty gross. LOL
The great thing about these candy cane cookies is that there is no frosting involved. I mean, if you want to frost them you can but then you’d be covering up the decoration of the candy cane. I like to add a few drops of peppermint extract to the cookies to give them an authentic flavor.
You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to and can just stick with the vanilla. I found these cookies to be fairly simple to make and super easy to eat. Enjoy!
