Hey, everyone! I hope you all are doing well this week. Today, we are discussing old-timey desserts that our mothers and grandmothers used to make. Of course, the topic of ambrosia salad came up.
This salad is said to be a big hit in the south but I think it has made its way around the country over the years. I’m a northerner and my grandmother always made this salad. I can remember going to Sunday dinner at granny’s house and she would have a big old bowl of the fluffy stuff sitting on the table.
You never knew which color to expect as she was always making different ones. Mainly, grandma would have either pink or green ambrosia salad to serve. I think my favorite part about this salad would be the miniature marshmallows.
I loved them as a kid and I still love them now as an adult. Ambrosia salad is insanely easy to toss together and you will love eating it! I can remember the ladies at my church always bringing some form of ambrosia salad to the potluck dinners.
Some had colored marshmallows in them while others were just mint green and fluffy. You never knew what you were gonna get!

Quick Tip: Ambrosia salad makes a wonderful dessert to take to a baby or bridal shower. I enjoy serving this salad during easter dinner.
we always put some grapes (purple & green), pecans and sometimes cherries (although not a personal fan). photo appears to have this as well
oh and bananas too
I make this all the time by why does yours look pink? DId you add cherries? I use crushed pineapple but I might try tidbit, chunk would be too large for me.
I am going to make this. Looks yummy! However, picture looks like maybe marshino (sp?) cherries in this mixture also. Something red, anyway. I am going to put marshino (sp?) cherries in mine when I make it.
Perhaps the cherries were left out of the list of ingredients by mistake.
great
