I can remember being a little girl and going to visit my grandparents. They always had goodies and treats laying around for me to munch on. One of my most favorite treats that granny had were fig newtons.
Now, my mother would buy the store bought kind but not grandma. She would make her own from scratch. Obviously, grandma’s always tasted better.
And guess what else? Granny’s fig newtons looked just like the store bought kind. She was a very good baker. Lately, I’ve been having cravings for grandma’s fig newtons but since she passed away I won’t be able to have any. How sad! But is it?
I found a recipe for homemade fig newtons on the internet and I couldn’t be any more delighted. I rushed to the local market to pick up the ingredients that I needed and away I went! I am happy to report that these fig newtons came out amazingly well, not as good as my grandmas, but well. Give this yummy classic recipe a shot. You won’t be sorry!
