I absolutely love apples. Whether they are raw, cooked, fried or baked, I love getting some good ol’ apple recipes going. I have always loved going to the supermarket to choose out different varieties of apples and give them a try with different recipes.
It was a fun experiment when I would come across an apple type that was perfectly sweet and tart for the particular recipe. It makes all the difference in the world to use the best type of apple for a certain recipe. They all change the flavors and textures.
The best apple I found for this recipe is Honeycrisp. They are the perfect combination of tangy and sweet with a perfect crunch to make this cake the best one. This recipe is a super simple, yet very tasty apple cake.
To make it even better, it is stuffed with cream cheese. It truly makes a normal apple cake even better. All the flavors are uplifted and it takes a normally dense cake and transforms it into something light and creamy. And even best, there is a nutty creamy frosting topping it.
