This recipe for homemade popped corn is a great idea for when your kids are having sleepovers. All of the guests love to see the popped corn actually pop in the microwave. it’s sorta like nobody is expecting this method to work and when it does, they are amazed!
Check out what my pals over at Group Recipes had to say about this recipe:
“Microwave popcorn is a very convenient snack. However, no brand can live up to being delicious or healthy. The following technique has been featured on ‘Good Eats’ and I have also seen it in other places too. If you have not tried this yet, prepare to be amazed!”
I am so glad that there is a solution to eating healthy microwave popcorn. No more pools of unidentifiable yellow sludge at the bottom of the bag! Yippee!
Ingredients
1/4 cup popcorn kernels
1 tsp Bertolli olive oil
1/2 tsp Land O Lakes salt
1 Brown Lunch Bag
1 Stapler and 2 staples
Instructions
In a small bowl, mix together all the ingredients, so that the kernels are coated nicely with the oil and salt.
Pour the kernels into the bottom of the lunch bag.
Make two 1/2 inch folds from the top of the bag creating a seal.
Using Two Staples (no more, no less!) staple the bag shut.
Lay the bag on its side – allowing the kernels to spread out in a single layer.
Microwave on high for 2-3 minutes.
When the kernels are popping only more than every 3 seconds – it is done. Anymore and it will burn!
Carefully remove the popcorn from the bag – there will be lots of hot steam.
Flavor the popcorn with anything you like and enjoy!

Quick Tip: Putting metal in the microwave is not safe, but two staples is not enough metal to cause any unwanted problems. This has been tested and confirmed by several sources, so this method is considered safe. – Group Recipes
