Greetings, friends! So, I just got off the phone with a very dear friend of mine who lives in the United Kingdom. I like to refer to her as, “my mate across the pond.”
She definitely gets a kick out of that and says, “You Americans and your silly sense of humour.” Check out how I spelled “humor.” Haha! I’m really getting in touch with my British side today.
Perhaps, for the rest of the day, I’ll only speak with a British accent. I’m sure my husband and kids will love that. 🙂 Okay, back on topic.
My friend was telling me about this amazing dessert that they enjoy eating in the UK called banoffee pie. For some reason, I was thinking this dessert had something to do with coffee. Nope. it’s all about the caramel and bananas, baby! I knew right then and there that I HAD to make this pie.

Quick Tip: This recipe calls for a graham cracker pie crust, but if you can get your hands on a stack of Digestive Biscuits, make your own crust using those for an authentic British banoffee crust.
this sounds yummy and believe it or not, i have all the ingredients in my house to make it – even the dulce de leche. You can make your own dulce de leche by simmering an opened can of sweetened condensed milk in boiling water for about 6 hours.
I am 75 years old, and my mom used to make this recipe all the time. we used to make the caramel by boiling it in water on top of the stove for 6 hours. But when I got a pressure cooker, I cooked a few tins at a time for 20 mins. Worked perfect.
Where the caramel?
This site is really interesting. I have bookmarked it.
