Check out what my friends at Kitchen Meets Girl had to say about this amazing recipe fit for your whole family:
“This cake not only looks delishious, but so impressive! Best of each world; taste, looks, and easy to make. Thank you! THANK YOU!”
“This cake looks so good! I was thinking of adding some strawberries to the Cream Cheese Frosting…Then you’d have a Neapolitan Cake!”
Ingredients
1 box Pillsbury white cake mix
1 box Pillsbury brownie mix
2 squares (2 ounces) Hershey’s semisweet chocolate, finely chopped
7 ounces Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk (half of a 14-ounce can)
For the frosting:
1 8-ounce package Philadelphia cream cheese, room temperature
½ cup Land O Lakes unsalted butter, room temperature
1 teaspoon McCormick vanilla extract
4 cups Domino confectioner’s sugar
¼ cup Oak Farm milk
Instructions:
Prepare white cake according to directions on the box, and pour into two 9-inch round cake pans. Allow cakes to cool to room temperature.
Prepare brownies according to package instructions, baking in a 9-inch round cake pan.
Place the chocolate, sweetened condensed milk and 1 tablespoon water in a small saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring until the chocolate is melted (about 5 minutes).
While the brownies are still warm, place the brownie layer on a cake stand. Slowly pour the chocolate sauce on top, letting it soak into the brownie. Allow the sauce to soak in for at least 30 minutes.
To make the frosting:
- Combine the cream cheese, butter and vanilla in a stand mixer and mix on medium speed until incorporated, about 1 or 2 minutes. Add the confectioner’s sugar 1 cup at a time, until the frosting is light and creamy. Add more confectioner’s sugar for a thicker frosting, or add milk if the frosting is too stiff.
Place a white cake layer on top of the brownies and top with approximately ¼ cup of the frosting using an offset spatula.
Add the second white cake layer and cover the cake in a layer of cream cheese frosting.
Chill the cake until ready to serve.
Quick Tip: You can substitute your favorite flavored boxed mixes for the flavors above.
