They Call This A Vintage Cake, But I Call It Absolutely Delicious!

I’m not sure I get the vintage fad.  When my grandmother was alive, she used to say that when things looked old, she would fix them up.  The times I see items that are “vintage” and would have been popular when my grandmother was alive, I think to myself  “in that condition, my grandmother would have been horrified to have it in her home.”  To have something purposefully scrapped or sanded down would have been an item my grandmother would have repainted to look new.

I’ll admit that sometimes I walk into a home with vintage items and it’s well put together and the house feels very cozy, but more often than not I just can’t help but think what my grandmother would say.  I think some of the sanded down, rustic pieces I have in my own home she would chide me and insist I go get a new coat of paint.  Luckily, I don’t think that applies to recipes, which is why this vintage cake recipe is one for the regular meal rotation.
