There’s A Surprise In Every Bite Of This Super Yummy Pecan Cake

My husband and I once attended a school play involving our nephew. He just started last year and he was being active in school activities. We are also both excited for our kids to go to school, but at the same time we’re feeling that separation anxiety that parents feel whenever kids leave their side. But since I don’t want to think about that yet, let’s go back to the school program. My brother was missing during the start of the program. When I asked my sister-in-law, she was simply smiling and told me not to worry.

My husband and I enjoyed the play about a little prince talking to a wolf. My nephew played the role of one of the plants who talked to the prince. There was a short break in the middle for a short number and there’s when I knew why my brother was missing.

He was included in the program! He performed with a few parents on stage along with their kids. I was laughing so hard while taking a video of the performance.

At the end of the night, I was teasing him. But he shrugged it off and told me and my husband that it would soon be our turn. That shut me up actually.

Anyway, after the play, we went straight back home and relieved Liz from her babysitting duties. My husband and I shared a slice of this pecan cake that I baked earlier that day while reflecting on a few things. The comforting taste of the cake made us feel a bit relieved.

You should try this recipe- it’s the perfect company for such a night.

Quick Tip: If you don’t have cinnamon flavored crackers, just use the plain ones and stir 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon in with the flour.
