This past Thanksgiving was the first in my husband and my new home. We bought it in early July, but did not get to move in until October. As we waited, I announced to everyone that I would be planning Thanksgiving dinner. It was a lot of planning and a lot of people, but I knew I wanted to do it because it would be fun and a great inaugural for our new home.
As the date approached, I began looking for good recipes for the traditional meal, you know, stuffing, cornbread casserole, green beans, mac and cheese, mashed potato and of course the turkey. But, about two days before, I realized I had never come up with a couple of appetizers. I did not want a lot since I did not want anyone to spoil their appetites, yet I still wanted something. I did not know what to do, so I decided to take a few of the cheeses I had in my fridge and throw them together. As that happened, this came into being. It was a gooey and messy cheese dip with loads of bacon over the top. It was delicious with slices of bread, but just as good with lots of tortilla chips. Needless to say, it was a hit.
