Cake rolls were a part of my upbringing.
It’s true. When I was a little girl my church had a huge bake sale every Fall. My mother would make her famous cake rolls to take to the sale. She would generally make pumpkin, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. I got to help her make these marvelous cake rolls. It was so much fun watching mom roll the cake up in a towel. I always felt like she was performing some sort of magic when she would do this.
In a way, mom was performing magic because I certainly couldn’t roll those cakes up without breaking them and even now as an adult I still have trouble. However, it can be done. You’ll be so excited once you make this lovely Lincoln Log cake and get to take your first bite.
