Buffalo Wing Sauce Meet French Fries In This Rockin’ Game Day Appetizer

Baking these in the oven is a nice touch.  You get a lot of flavor here without the heaviness that so often accompanies something fried.  Of course, this recipe is a great option for your next tailgate or home football party; that “buffalo” flavor that works so well on chicken wings translates really well to fries, and as far as party snacks go, it will make for a nice mix of the original and the familiar.

I think that small helpings of this would work well as a replacement for your typical potato side for a full dinner, too, though.  If you are bored with the same basic baked potato or fries option, why not go for something like this with a bit more flair?  It certainly is easy enough to put together.  Enjoy!

Ingredients

10 medium sized baking potatoes
1/4 cup olive oil (I used Pompeian)
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1 cup buffalo wing sauce
2 Tbsp butter (I used Land O’Lakes)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup blue cheese pieces (not blue cheese dressing)
chopped green onions

Directions

(1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Slice potatoes into wedges. Place potato wedges into a large roasting pan. Toss with olive oil and salt/pepper. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until fork tender.

(2) Heat buffalo wing sauce and butter over med. high heat. Once butter is melted, stir and set aside until potatoes are ready.

(3) Remove potatoes from oven and pour wing sauce over top. Toss. Add shredded cheddar and blue cheese. Bake for an additional 3-4 minutes or until cheese melts. Remove from oven, sprinkle on chopped green onions and serve.
