There have been plenty of times in my life where I’ve heard about a recipe and it has made me scratch my head in confusion.
When I first heard of brown paper bag apple pie I was thoroughly confused. i mean, have you ever in all of your days heard of such a thing? My neighbor Sally was the first one to mention this anomaly to me. She told me that her granny always bakes her fruit pies in brown paper bags. I asked if the pies came out any differently and Sally said they baked up to an amazing perfection that is out of this world.
Well, with a description like that I had no other choice than to bake my own brown paper bag apple pie. So, I set off to the store to get the ingredients…and save one of the paper bags that they gave me at the check-out. Much to my surprise, this apple pie turns out absolutely amazing. I don’t know what magic powers that brown paper bag has but it took my apple pie from drab to fab in about an hour.

Quick Tip: In order to prevent the brown paper bag from touching the heating element in your oven and catching on fire remove one of the racks during baking.
