We have a lot of children in the family.
Some of my cousins are married with three kids each. And my brother has one. Before, whenever we have get-togethers, we only think about what we all wanted. Most of the time, we just wanted beer and a few meat grilling. Those were enough for an afternoon and night-long talks in the garden of whoever’s house. But now that there are kids, we make sure that we have handy desserts that they can get their hands into during reunions. It’s the only way to tame their little wild hearts.
One of my cousins, a mother of two cute boys and a cute girl, taught us to make choco balls. These are tiny balls of really yummy concoction covered with anything you can think of—sprinkles, powdered sugar, nuts, coconut, shaved chocolates, etc. It’s similar to those mini donuts except that the texture is more fudge-like than cake-like. We always make a batch for every reunion and place them in a plastic bowl in the room where the kids can easily access them.
I tried the recipe once and wondered if they would stay good enough if placed inside boxes or plastics for a gift. Fortunately, they do. So I thought of giving them as gifts. However, it would probably be nicer to add something such as rum to make it taste more adult-like.
