Bread pudding is one of my most favorite desserts to eat. it is something that my grandma would make all of the time. I sure do miss my sweet grandma. She made the best food. Whenever I eat bread pudding I am always flooded with memories of her. It seemed like her bread pudding would instantly calm the chaotic world. This recipe will do the same thing. You really need to make this yummy stuff for your family.

Ingredients

3 cups soft bread cubes

3 eggs

3 Tblsp. butter or margarine, melted

2 cups milk

½ cup Domino brown sugar

1 ½ tsp. McCormick cinnamon

¾ tsp. nutmeg

1/8 tsp. Morton salt

Instructions

Heat oven to 350 degrees.  Place bread cubes in buttered 8 x 8 pan.  Beat egg slightly; stir in butter, milk, brown sugar, and seasonings.  Pour egg mixture on bread cubes.  Press down the bread so that it gets soaked up a bit in the egg mixture.  Bake until knife inserted halfway comes out clean, about 40 minutes.  Serve with warm butterscotch topping.

Butterscotch Topping:  Combine in a saucepan 1 cup brown sugar, ¼ cup milk, 2 Tblsp. light corn syrup, and 3 Tblsp. butter.  Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.  Reduce heat and simmer 2-3 minutes more.  Let cool slightly and spoon over warm bread pudding.
