Enjoy Sweater Weather With Sweet And Sugared Baked Pears

We’ve all had baked apples but have you ever had baked pears? These aren’t just any old baked pears, either. These pears are covered with maple syrup and pecans. Talk about a wonderful treat for your sweet tooth! Now, I can’t promise that you won’t need an insane injection after you eat this wondrous dessert but I can tell you that you’ll be a very happy camper with a full belly. I love these baked pears so much!

Thanks for the tip. Don’t mind if I do!

Ingredients

50g (2oz) (4 tbsp) Kerrygold Butter, extra for greasing

4 large ripe pears

Juice of 1/2 lemon

4 tbsp finely chopped pecan nuts

4 tbsp maple or golden syrup, or honey

Breyers Vanilla ice cream, to serve

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F), butter an ovenproof dish large enough to fit the pears in a single layer. Peel the pears and then cut each one in half and using a teaspoon scoop out the cores. Toss in the lemon juice to prevent them from going brown.

Place the butter in a bowl and beat in the pecan nuts then use the mixture to fill the cavities of the pear halves. Drizzle over the golden or maple syrup, or honey and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pears are softened and the sauce at the bottom of the dish is bubbling.

To serve, arrange the baked pear halves on plates and spoon over any cooking sauces. Add a scoop of ice cream to each one.
