This Cake Makes Ordinary Cinnamon Rolls Look Like Lumps Of Coal!
If there’s one smell that reminds me of going to my Grammy Sally’s house, it’s cinnamon rolls. I think she made them fresh every morning. Grandpa loved them, so he probably put in a request sometime when they were first married and she just stuck with them. Sundays were the best because we would get fresh cinnamon rolls along with a complete spread of all kinds of different breakfast foods. Think sausage, bacon, hash browns, toast, biscuits and gravy… whatever you wanted, she made it.
I always wished that I would have gotten that cinnamon roll recipe from her before she passed, but it wasn’t something I thought of until after it was too late. I’ve tried a ton of times to duplicate it, but I could never come close. Then, I made this cinnamon roll cake with cream cheese glaze.
The flavor that came out of this cake was identical to what I was looking for. I almost cried when I tasted it. It took me right back to the days when I was younger and we went to Grammy’s for brunch after church.
