The ladies in my town are the best. I couldn’t believe how thoughtful and caring they were when we moved to the area.
They brought us fresh casseroles and desserts because they knew we weren’t going to have much time for cooking and cleaning up. It was so sweet. I wanted to be able to do something to repay them, but I had no idea what. I waited for some time after we moved in to try and get a feel for what they liked. I found out that once a week they met and had tea together. That’s when they discussed any new happenings and what they could do to help.
I had come across the perfect recipe already and I didn’t even know it yet. It was an Earl Grey tea cake. How much better could it get than that? I simply had to try it out for them. I made it up the day before their meeting and took it over there before they were set to arrive.
All that I did was attach a small note that said thanks for everything you did to make us feel welcome to the neighborhood. Then, I went home just hoping that they were going to like it.
