Ladies and gentlemen, may I present to you, Autumn in a pan. Yes, folks, these apple pie rolls taste just like fall. Don’t get me wrong, they don’t taste like crispy leaves and bonfires but they do leave your mouth with the fresh taste of apple cider and yummy sugar glaze. I love it! I can seriously eat these things every single day of the week, but I won’t because that would be gluttonous and I want my pants to fit me right.
I know we are still in the throes of summer but I plan to make these marvelous rolls in preparation for fall. You know, as sort of an experiment. Yeah, that’s why I need to make these rolls, for the good of the people 🙂
Ingredients
2 cups Gold Medal all purpose flour
½ teaspoon Kosher salt
4 teaspoons baking powder
4 Tablespoons cold Kerrygold butter
¾ cup McArthur milk
2 Tbsp Kerrygold butter, melted
½ cup Domino brown sugar
2 Tablespoons McCormick Cinnamon
2 Honey Crisp Apples, cored and diced
1 cup confectioner’s sugar
3 Tablespoons brewed Green Mountain Naturals Hot Apple Cider
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F.
Add flour, salt, and baking powder in the bowl of a food processor; pulse to mix. Add 4 Tablespoons cold butter and pulse until mixture resembles coarse meal. Add milk, pulsing until mixture forms a cohesive ball.
Place the dough on a lightly floured working surface. Roll out into a rectangle, approximately 12×16 and ¼ inch thick.
In a bowl, toss diced apples with melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Spread evenly over the top of the dough rectangle.
Roll up, jelly roll style. Once rolled, cut into 1 inch slices. Place in a buttered 9-inch round baking dish.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until golden.
While rolls are baking, combine confectioner’s sugar and apple cider in a small bowl and mix until smooth.
Once rolls are baked, remove from oven and turn over onto a round serving platter. Pour apple cider glaze over the top and serve warm.
