Spending the night at my aunt and uncle’s house when we were younger was always a real treat. They had three kids of their own that were around my age, and as a single child, I loved going to spend time with them. It was so much nicer than sitting at home alone all the time. Whenever my parents would have plans to go out, or if they were going to be working, that’s where I always wanted to go. One of the nicest things about staying there, besides the company of course, was my aunt’s cooking.
She was a homemaker, so she had plenty of time in the kitchen perfecting her skills. It was the only time that I ever had homemade cinnamon rolls in the morning before going to school. My parents would get cinnamon rolls, but they usually came in a package.
The ones she made were just like these ones from Tried and Tasty. After finding the recipe myself, I rushed out and got the ingredients so I could make them at home. They were just as delicious as I remembered.
They sure did take me back to when times were simpler, and that was a bonus to the flavor.
