As I mentioned above, this recipe looks so much harder than it is. I always thought Tiramisu was a long, complicated process to make, but I was blown away by how easy it was. What makes it so simple is that it’s just a layered, no bake pastry really. You soak the lady fingers in espresso, and then layer it with the mascarpone and whipped cream mixture. Top it off with a little cocoa powder and you’re done! It is truly fool-proof.
Something to keep in mind with this dessert is that the longer you keep it in the fridge, the better it tastes. I’ve made this a couple of times. Once I made it about 5 hours ahead for dinner, and while it was absolutely delicious, the next time I made it a day in advance and it was even better. The longer the lady fingers soak in the fridge, the softer they become and the prettier it is to serve. Give it the time it needs and the results will be amazing!

Quick Tip: If you don’t have mascarpone cheese readily available, here’s a good substitute: cream together 6 oz. softened cream cheese, 2 tablespoons sour cream and 3 tablespoons heavy cream.
