One of the most familiar smells from my childhood involved walking into the house after school on a lightly crisp day to the aroma of something cooking in the crock pot. Mom used hers all the time. She worked full time, so she didn’t have tons of time, or energy left at the end of the day to make a meal. It was okay with me, because everything that came out of that pot was scrumptious. My favorite was her beef pot roast. Those things were amazing.
I always tried to copy her recipe, but it never seemed to be the same. That was true until I found this one on All Recipes. It was almost identical to the ones I remember from my childhood.
My kids actually really like this roast, and I still have a hard time getting them to eat meat most of the time. There are never any arguments when this on their plates though.

Quick Tip: Make sure you sear the meat first to get the best flavor from your slow cooker.
