I bet you didn’t think you could get pizza that was made in a crock pot, huh? Well this casserole really tastes like pizza, and the recipe has received lots of great feedback from fans over at Repeat Crafter Me. Here’s what some of them have said about it:
I made this without meat for dinner tonight!! So tasty, I really liked it!! I used a spinach and basil marinara red sauce, very good.
This sounds delicious! We usually have pizza night once a week, and this would be a great pizza alternative to mix it up. Thanks for sharing.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 onion diced
One package (or 1 cup) sliced mushrooms.
8 ounce box of penne pasta noodles (or ziti or rigatoni).
2 or 3 14oz jars of pizza sauce.
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 package of Hormel Turkey Pepperoni is 70% less fat!
16 ounce of shredded mozzarella.
Instructions:
Saute onion, garlic and mushrooms together. Set aside and brown ground beef. Drain off grease and mix the two together.
Boil pasta for about 7 minutes. You want it to be al dente so they don’t get mushy in the crock pot.
Spray bottom and sides of crock pot with cooking spray and layer as follows: half of the pasta, 1 jar of sauce, half of the meat mixture, 1 layer pepperoni, 1 layer of cheese, other half of pasta, 2nd jar of sauce, other half of meat mixture, another layer of pepperoni, a thick layer of cheese to cover everything and top it off with a couple more slices of pepperoni.
Cook on low for 3 hours.
