A One-Dish Chicken Dinner Everyone Will Love

This is the kind of feedback our friends over at Delicious as it Looks received from their fans after trying this recipe:

This was SO good. Recipe worked great as written, except I substituted Lactaid whole milk instead of the cream, omitted the butter, and reduced the cheese amount as well (only added about 3/4 cup). This will definitely be in my family’s casserole rotation. Thanks for the recipe!!

Ingredients

3 – 4 medium russet potatoes, scrubbed and diced
(about 1.5 lbs. or 4 1/2 cups)
1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced
4 slices bacon, cooked crisp, cooled and crumbled
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
4 green onions, sliced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Layer half the potatoes and all of the chicken in a pan. Season with salt and pepper, then add half of the bacon and green onions, as well as 1/2 cup cheese.

Spread out the remaining potatoes, bacon and green onions. Sprinkle with pepper and salt, and 1/2 cup cheese. Add the heavy cream (or use milk instead), dot with butter.

Bake for 1 1/2 hours (first covered, then uncovered for the last 30mins). Melt the remaining cheese on top.

Quick Tip: If you want to make this dish a little lighter, you can leave the butter out.

Recipe looks and sounds delicious. But, you left out Preheat oven to ????? I’m thinking 350, but also could be 375 or even 400. Look forward to your reply.

AT WHAT TEMPERATURE? YOU FORGOT TO ADD THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE ENTIRE RECIPE. wow! 1 1/2 HOURS COVERED, THEN ANOTHER HALF HOUR UNCOVERED AT WHAT 250? THAT MIGHT BURN IF THE TEMP IS TOO HIGH…

What temperature do you bake “A One Dish Chicken Dinner Everyone Will Love”?
Especially important if it bakes for 1 1/2 hrs.

What size pan? 9X13? 9X9? 8X8?
What temp do I bake it at? 350? 425?
Do I grease the pan? Or does the butter I add at the end melt and keep it from sticking?

this is a great dish .. my parents been making this dish since i was a kid,,and i also make it many times,, it is easy quick one pan meal,,,the best,,,try it you will love it ,,from potatoes to vegetables to meat all the neccessary food you need for a complete dietary meal,,oil and allthe great seasonings that makes it muah ,, just right,, got to try it,,

I have this dish in my oven right now. Only problem is there is no temperature posting as to what temp to cook it. I took a wild guess and set it on 350 degrees.

Can you please clarify for me – when you say “spread out the rest of the potatoes…” is this on top of of the other potatoes and chicken? Also what oven temp? 350(F)?

The recipe does not state whether or not the chicken and potatoes are supposed to be cooked ahead of time. Which way is it–raw chicken and potatoes or already cooked? Would be easier handling cooked ingredients rather than raw, especially the chicken. Otherwise I like this recipe and want to try it. That is my only question about this dish.

Cook under an hour on 1 page and cook a hour and a half on the recipe page! What oven temperature does it cook at? What pan size?

Was ready to try this tonight & hubby noticed that there’s no stove temperature listed. Then I noticed that the recipe doesn’t say if the chicken is precooked, or not, which it usually is in recipes. Can I get some clarification on these please? Thanks
