Magnificent Chocolate Mud Pie – Definitely Not For Throwing

Chocolate mud pie was always something thrilled me as a kid.

I remember being 5 or 6 years old and going to the restaurant Tony Roma’s and thinking it was so good to get the mud pie dessert.  It would usually come with an Oreo cookie crumble crust, a big dollop of chocolate mousse, some gummy worms hidden inside and then a little more crumble over the top.  Sometimes they would even add a flower over it which I thought was so cool! It looked realistic and like a real flower!
Fast forward a bit, and I do not order that mud pie dessert anymore because it only comes from the kid’s menu.  That is when I decided I had to make this for myself at home.  So I pulled together all of my favorite ingredients (chocolate and Oreos) and made myself a mud pie with under 5 ingredients.

I am also no longer ashamed of the gummy worms, I throw those in my homemade one, too! That is what makes it cool, special and like my childhood.  Plus, it’s a pretty neat surprise to serve when you have houseguests over as well! Enjoy this at your next family get together.
