A Simple, Sweet, 1950’s Sugar Pie Recipe

Simple , oh so easy and quick Pie from the 1950’s! A Family Favorite! Enjoy!

Check out what my friends at Group Recipes had to say about this Sugar Cream Pie:

Just made this today and after LOTS of failed attempts to re-create my grandmother’s sugar pie I got it RIGHT with this recipe. I did exactly what it called for and it was PERFECT.

I was pretty impressed too! This was just like my Nana’s version and that’s exactly what I wanted. I am so happy to finally have the recipe that disappeared with her. Now I can make it for my little family!

Ingredients

1 cup of Domino brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup whipping cream

1 tablespoon Gold Medal flour

Slices of Land O Lakes butter (not much)

Pillsbury Ready-made pie crust

Instructions

Mix first 3 ingredients in bowl.

Cover an 8-inch pie plate with dough.

Pour ingredients into dough, spread.

Dot with a few small slices of butter.

For decoration, few strips of pie dough

Bake in a 400F oven for 30 to 40 minutes.

Serve with vanilla ice cream. It tastes even better cold, the day after with a cup of coffee or tea…:)

You mention that you reduce the heat during the last few minutes of baking and that seemed to be the key in duplicating your Nana’s sugar pie, but you fail to elaborate for your readers how much your reduced the heat or for how long?? Looking at the original recipe as given on Group Recipes, there is no mention of any change in temperature during the baking phase.
