Welcome To The Hot Meal Hall Of Fame: Hamburger Steak And Gravy

When I was a little girl, I’d often visit my grandma and grandpa’s house. Most of the time, like 99%, grandma would be the one to do all of the cooking. However, grandpa would occasionally make his famous hamburger steaks.

Boy, were they ever good! You could smell them sizzling in the frying pan from outside. That’s how I knew what we would be having for dinner that day.

A grand name for something so easy! It tastes wonderful, too, and is usually very tender. Now that I’m an adult, and grandpa has passed on, I really wanted to start making my own hamburger steaks in his memory.

It would be a great meal to share with my kids and to tell them the story of my grandfather. I found this recipe that seems like it would be just how he made his, only the onion gravy is different. I’m pretty excited about this gravy though because I love me some cooked onions.
