Refresh Your Palate With Lemon-Lime Iced Pound Loaf

Summers in my small town meant there wasn’t much going on.

There weren’t many kids that lived near me, so a lot of times, it was just me and my sister looking for things to do. Our parents worked all day long, so that meant we were usually stuck up in the house all day until they got home. It was not the best way to spend summer vacation. But, when we were lucky, we would get to go visit my Grandma and Grandpa down state on their farm. Well, they called it a farm, I think it was more of a ranch. It was a huge property. They had all kinds of land, tons of animals, and endless amounts of things to do. Grandma and Grandpa always made us do chores while we were there, but I didn’t even care.

They were fun chores. I really enjoyed anything surrounding taking care of the animals. It could be feeding, washing, cleaning out the pens…it didn’t matter as long as I was near them.

When we came inside in the afternoon, Granny always had a delicious homemade dessert waiting for us. That was one thing that we didn’t get at home. Not that mom couldn’t cook, she just didn’t have the time.

My favorite was her lemon lime iced pound cake….oh my heavens. It was so good, melt in your mouth, amazing…just like this recipe from the web. When I came across it, I couldn’t wait to make it at home. I ran right out and picked up all the ingredients. My kids loved it just as much as I did. Good thing we had lots! It still disappeared pretty fast.
