May Your Dreams Be Filled With Something As Sweet As This

In our neighborhood, we always have that homeowners gathering. We usually hold it at the house of someone who has a huge backyard so it can hold us all. It’s a potluck type of gathering-everyone is encouraged to bring food that they can share with everyone. I brought this chocolate strawberry dream cake. It felt like a dream! The cake was gone within a few minutes. I also received a few pat on the backs and a few praises. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I only have Mr. Food to thank for this recipe.

Speaking of Mr. Food, let’s see what our friends from over there have to say about this recipe:

“We first made Chocolate Strawberry Dream Cake for one of our monthly office birthday parties. We all thought it was so good that we’ve had it every month since!”

I can’t blame you for wanting to eat this marvelous cake again and again. This started out as a special occasion cake in our household, but it ended up becoming a part of the regular roster of desserts. This is how much we love this cake.

The best thing about this- it’s easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25-ounce) package Duncan Hines chocolate cake mix, batter prepared according to package directions
  • 1 (4-serving) package Jell-o instant chocolate pudding and pie filling
  • 1 1/2 cups Borden milk
  • 1 cup sliced Driscoll’s fresh strawberries
  • 1 (8-ounce) container Cool Whip frozen whipped topping, thawed

Instructions

  1. Bake cake batter according to package directions for two 9-inch round layers; let cool.
  2. In a medium bowl, with an electric beater on medium speed, beat pudding mix and milk until well combined; allow to thicken slightly.
  3. Invert one cake layer onto a serving plate. Spread 1 cup pudding over cake layer and cover with sliced strawberries.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine remaining pudding with whipped topping until thoroughly blended. Place second cake layer over strawberries then frost top and sides of cake with whipped topping mixture. Chill at least 2 hours then serve, or cover loosely and keep chilled until ready to serve.
