A New Style To An Old-Fashioned Salisbury Steak Recipe!

I was invited to a small gathering at a friend’s house just recently. It was potluck like most of the gatherings I have with them. I brought this Salisbury steak casserole for a change since I always bring a pasta dish with me. And when I thought it wouldn’t be such a hit (there were a lot of amazing dishes in there), I was proven wrong. The casserole dish was the first one to go empty! They said it tasted like comfort so they had to comfort their stomachs with it.

Disappointment is not possible in this dish. It’s a classic that is a favorite of almost everyone. But favorite or not, one thing is for sure, you will all love this!

 

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 cups of Betty Crocker prepared mashed potatoes
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can of Campbell’s french onion soup
  • 1½ pounds Tyson lean ground beef
  • ⅛ teaspoon McCormick black ground pepper
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can Campbell’s cream of chicken
  • 1 packet of Lipton dry onion soup mix
  • 2 Tablespoon Gold Medal all purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Heinz ketchup
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon McCormick mustard powder
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can of Green Giant french cut green beans, drained

 

Instructions

  1. Label a 9×13 freezer container with date, name and cooking instructions.
  2. In a deep skillet, combine ⅓ can of french onion soup, ground beef & pepper.
  3. Cook until meat is cooked through.
  4. While ground beef is cooking, in a small bowl combine remaining french onion soup, cream of chicken soup, dry onion soup mix, and flour until well combined and flour isn’t lumpy.
  5. Add to soup mixture ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce and mustard powder; Mix well.
  6. In a 9 x 13 pan, transfer meat mixture into pan now.
  7. Pour soup mixture over ground beef.
  8. Dump and spread green beans over ground beef.
  9. Top with mashed potatoes.
  10. Place lid on top and place in freezer until ready to bake or cook right away for 20 minutes on 350 degrees.
  11. If cooking from frozen then cook in a preheated 350 degrees oven for 45 minutes.
  12. Serve immediately.
